Will be working with a pair of ungelded males in the near future. Up until I had seen these horses, I had never heard or them. At first I thought something was wrong with their feet but am learning this is characteristic of the breed and their gait qualities. I kind of wonder about how well they will perform on the trail with someone my size and weight as they are not the largest of stature. Anyone else out there with experience with these?

Randy, my sister bought one last year and I am getting an education. She wanted a gaited horse as I advised her, but then opted for something I had never seen. She is having trouble with his feet on the hard stones and his short back means he it is hard to find a saddle that will fit well without rubbing. Note the info on treeless.
From what I know of your size I would think a good sized walker would better. You will need a large saddle and need the length of back. I have a gelding that is near 17 hands.
