Do electric fences keep out deer?

Yes it will! One strand of white ribbon tape 32" off the ground. The US gov gave me the tape and the charger to fence off my 4 acres. Then the Gov came along three years later and wanted me to buy the equipment. And I did.

Do electric fences keep out deer?

I've read a bunch of post here. I can't belive this many people would have no conception of electricity. First if you build an electric fence 8 feet high and the deer jumps over it clear. Then what is going to shock it? NOTHING. If it jumps through the top strands,, still it doesn't get shocked. WHY? It's in mid air It's Not GROUNDED. It's like a bird sitting on a power line. Hellooooo. I've been keeping deer out of my crops for 40 years with electric fence. It's Simple. Put up one fence on the inside boundry ,, one stran about 30 to 36 inches off the ground,, then put up another fence, one strand on the outside same heigth with the two fences seperated by 3 to 5 feet. They have no depth perception. you may tie some flaging tape along on the wire so they can see it till they get trained to keep out. They go nuts trying to figure it out and leave.
