 Lime in a paddock

There is a big spot where two paddocks come together that is always really muddy. One thought is to put in a bunch of lime to absorb the moisture and create a relatively hard surface. This idea comes not from me but rather a horse person. Not being a horse person, I wonder whether it is safe to have horses walk in lime.

Any thoughts?

 Lime in a paddock

I have used lime for years in my barn floor to help keep the smell down etc. I use hydrated lime.

I don't think it would hurt a healthy foot.

I also don't know if it will dry up mud?

Ronald
